Not that NetWare is being abandoned, he emphasises. But the positive approach you should take is that your NetWare skillset and marketability can be enhanced by learning about OES and its linux leanings. For example, the book shows how the Apache web server and the Tomcat engine can interact with NetWare. If you do not already know those packages, now you have a context to do so. And outside NetWare, knowing Apache and Tomcat is no bad thing, career-wise.
