I was delighted to receive a cookbook for the Instant Pot 3-Quart Mini. As I was reading the recipes, there were two that I wanted to try. Unfortunately, I found that they had incorrect or missing ingredients. The first one was "Cheesy Broccoli Soup." Amazingly, broccoli was missing in the ingredients list, and even though beef was not listed as an ingredient, the first instruction said to "add beef and cook until brown." There is no beef in broccoli soup, and without broccoli, it is not broccoli soup. The second recipe was for "Mexican Beef Soup." In the photo, there appears to be vegetables in the soup but none were listed in the ingredients list. Should this recipe be made with just the ingredients listed, it certainly would not constitute a palatable soup if it only contained beef, cheese, cream, broth, and seasonings. Since I did not completely read all of the recipes, I cannot say if there are other errors or not. Needless to say, I am disappointed that no one had taken the time to proofread the book before it was published.
This mini Instant Pot cookbook has a number of dishes that I have not seen in the other cookbooks including a number of Turkey dishes. The one minor omission is that there is no information on cooking time compensation for altitude. That information is in the Instant Pot manual. I like to get the Kindle version first and then buy a paper copy if it a book worth having in the kitchen. The pages soon start to fill with little notes on substitutes since some items never make it to Wyoming. I do keep a number of dried items in stock that work in a pinch. Worth having in your kitchen.
Recipes sound good but the photos are NOT in color! Book looks home made. Photoshopped and cut and paste? Back cover says photos show what dishes will look like! In Black & White not too appetizing! Pix in cover are in color so why not recipe pages??? Very disappointed.
I was looking for a book that gave the correct measurements for cooking in the Mini. All the other books are written for the big pots so it's hard to know how to adjust for the 3 quart pot. This book has some good ideas but a couple of the measurements were so far off that I don't know how they made it in here. I'll pick up some good tips and rule of thumb ideas for the mini though.
There are NO colored pictures to make what's being prepared look appealing. It was disappointing to have unclear black and white pictures of the meal. Some recipes do not have any pic at all. Overall the book seems to be cheaply made. Also its a minor annoyance to see the word "burnt" instead of "burned" throughout the book, referencing being "burned" by steam release. Love the cookbook cover, but opening it, very bland. Sorry, IMHO.
new to instapot so was looking for easy simple everyday recipes, which this did not provide. recipes are generally what i would not fix and i hate oatmeal so any variation of that does not work for me. one recipe called for chopped bay leaf then states at end, it said to remove it.. i have never chopped a bay leaf in to anything. it always went in whole and was discarded whole
This cookbook really works for me. The recipes are easy and have ingredients I usually have in my freezer and pantry. The tips and Instant Pot cooking guide in the beginning of the book are very helpful. I've made several recipes so far. We loved the spicy garlic chicken thighs, turkey breast with orange, and baby back ribs. The pumpkin cake was really good with coffee in the morning. Can't wait to try the cheesy beef casserole and beans stew, which is a great vegan recipe. The Paella and spiced honey shrimp sound good too. I'll use this cookbook often.
I liked this book. It provide lots of recipes that are easy to follow and guide that are easy to understand. For anyone just looking to get started, this is a great resource to have on hand. thanks author..
