I really enjoyed cycling along with Chris and Dea as they encountered walls that seemed insurmountable (yet managed to get over them - sometimes, literally) and met dozens of people who helped restore a sense of goodness remaining in humanity (minus a couple border check point police...). Never in a gazillion years would I undertake what they did - so I'm especially appreciative of being an armchair traveler with them. How they survived temperatures (both inhumanely cold and hot), illnesses, cranky knees, an eye infection, and bicycle mishaps is incredible. I'm glad that Chris chose to share this journey with us all. Can't wait for his 3rd book! (Hi, Dea!!)
I've read many cycling journals of cyclists making their dreams into reality. I had my own dream, albeit a little less dramatic, of riding across America an my recumbent trike. I read Chris's first book prior to my attempt and then I read this, his second book, after completing my own journey on June 4, 2018. I could feel the emotions he wrote about, as memories of my own journey came flooding back after only a few months since my finish. I enjoyed both books immensely.
Seldom do I review books. I'm an avid amateur cyclist, and I've read countless books on cyclists that have traveled the USA, and the world. Of all the "world touring" books. This is my favorite. You root for the two lovebirds. Good on ya Chris for a great story. I hope you married Dea, and I hope your write more. Thanks!
What a wonderful adventure! Having both read the first book, my husband and I couldn't wait to get our hands on the sequel. Chris's writing brings this amazing account of their round the world adventure to life. His observations are witty and the descriptions of both people and places colourful. A thourougly entertaining read for both cyclists and adventurers - even if your adventuring is happening in your armchair!
I have read both of Chris's books and have thoroughly enjoyed them. His writing is honest and funny, and his willingness to be the butt of his own jokes exposes a witty, wise author.
This continues right where book one left off, and it is such a great addition. Chris’ dry humour and chance encounters with other people along the road make this a book where you can’t guess whats coming next. Can’t wait for the third one!
