LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this book! I know a lot about paleo. I have lots of books on paleo. This one is my all time favorite. I can't wait to read her sugar detox next! Woo-Hoo! Diane write more books PLEASE!

So far the autoimmune eating plan has been a tremendous success for helping the constant pain I had in my feet. It's also solved my acid reflux issues. All this in only 2 weeks. Truthfully, I'm shocked. I had tried lots things like no gluten, no caffiene, not much meat, low carb, low fat, lots of vegetables, no sugar etc. I don't no what has made this work. Perhaps because I stopped eating nightshades and starting eating meat and butter? And, guess what, I am no longer hungry all the time. My whole outlook on life has improved.

Absolutely love this book. I hired a nutritionist and am paying quite a bit of money for her expertise and advise. Found most of the things my nutritionist is teaching me in this book. Would recommend this book to ANYONE wanting to try Paleo, especially if you have an autoimmune disease, joint pain or leaky gut...like I do.

I recently heard that Dianne personally reads every review posted here and so I felt the need to (finally) post a review to say thank you and to explain to those of you who may be on the fence about whether or not this book could benefit you that it just may change your life.When my husband was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 10+ years ago not one single medical professional offered advice on how to live with or manage an autoimmune disease (or much less suggest a book to read or attempt a change in diet). If only we had the information presented in this book back then we could have prevented many years of dangerous biologic drug infusions, terrible side effects, ER vists and frustrating conversations with doctors who simply just don't get it.I want to implore those of you who feel as lost and scared as we did to pick up this book. This book covers so many conditions...from blood sugar regulation to cancer recovery to fat loss, Dianne gives you so many great explanations for how and why the food you eat can change your life and what you can do about it. The information is presented clearly and simply (and yet is so in depth - I can't even imagine how long it would have taken me to research half of the nutritional supplements she suggests).To those of you who may not be suffering from a serious illness but want to feel and look better or maybe you are simply thinking about taking a step in the right direction - trust me, just pick up this book. (You'll read it, you'll benefit from it and just like me, you will find yourself coming back here to thank Dianne).

Firstly, the recipes are fantastic. They're easy, flavorful, and they play nice with a variety of stomach issues. I like this book enough that I bought a hardcover version, used it until it got ratty, then gave it to my sister (who was enthusiastically excited to get it even well-loved, because it's that good) and then bought one for my kindle.If I have anything negative to say it's about the kindle edition. The recipes are formatted all throughout the book so that the photograph for the previous recipe shows above the one following it. If I want to see what a recipe looks like, I have to flip forward several pages to see the picture, which invariably is showing above the next recipe. It's too easy to look at a picture and absentmindedly think the ingredient list right after it is actually for making that thing.I can't stress enough how annoying this actually is in a cookbook I use multiple times a week.All it needs is to be re for matted so the proper picture shows above its recipe and this would be a perfect book, just like it is on paper; as it is i can't give it 5 stars.

Wow! Wow! Ok. I rarely write reviews but this is worth the time to do it. My friend has been on the Paleo diet for the past year and she has not only lost weight but inches and has resolved many health issues. This book is perfect for newbies like me who don't know where to start and aren't sure if I want to go full steam ahead immediately or gradually ease into it. She is not hardcore - she's flexible and doesn't make one feel that they have to do everything so rigidly. You can do this. This author speaks to so many issues that the majority of us are facing...anything from dietary issues to minor and major physical ailments. I've already cooked several things from the cookbook and I admit I am not a good cook. The intro. helps me understand why I need to do this..what I didn't know and why it is important. The layout is awesome. Just bought another from my mom who is a cancer survivor and really focusing on nutrition. This is worth the 5 stars which I don't give out freely!

The dessert recipes I've tried so far have not turned out. The recipes are incomplete or something. For example, the Chocolate Coconut Cookies on page 394. If you follow the directions you end up with a soupy mixture with coconut flakes floating in it. It is completely liquid--there is no way to "flatten with a fork" on a baking sheet. There is no flour of any kind in the recipe. Nothing dry except the coconut flakes. To get something that looked similar to the photos, I had to double the coconut, add a third cup of almond flour, and add a third cup of almond butter. Finally the texture was reasonable for cookies, which I baked for 12 minutes (not the 20-30 minutes in the recipe!) I wonder how many other recipes are simply nonsense? I also tried the Pumpkin Pancakes on page 242 and had to add a little coconut flour to get anything resembling a pancake. I am giving 3 stars, instead of 1, because the Sweet Potato Pancakes on page 298 turned out just fine.

This book is absolutely fabulous. Takes the mystery out of the trigger mitts. It is more than a "how to" knitting book--it is a story of the people that make up the magnificent Island of Newfoundland. The photography is "some brilliant" makes you long to be there. This is a book of Culture and Tradition. You don't even have to knit to enjoy it.

I ordered this book Dec 25 and it arrived Jan 18! Maybe it actually shipped from Newfoundland? But it was totally worth the wait! I love this book. It includes some history and lots of patterns to knit. LOADS of color pictures and patterns in many different colors. I am very happy with the book!

I was very disappointed in this book, I was expecting more colorful charts, the charts are skimpy at best, and the patterns are all written, TO MUCH READING for my taste, I was excited to pop open the book at a nice chart and start knitting, but they go on and on about Norway knitting, and its hard to find the exact pattern you want to work on. So I would say this is not worth $30, Ive purchased much nicer pattern books with colorful charts for less money.

This is such a beautiful and interesting book. I highly recommend it for knitters and Newfoundlanders and anyone who just loves a good “yarn”. ;-)

For those of us who love the traditions inherent in knitting, this is a book to keep in your library. It’s a worthy successor to Robin Hansen’s iconic mitten books based on patterns from Maine and the Maritimes. The instructions are good (assuming you’ve knit mittens in the round before) with lots of suggestions for colorways. The anecdotes are wonderful. You’ll refer back to this book again and again for inspiration, ideas and mitten patterns!

Let me start this review by saying that I am not one to give a five star rating lightly but I genuinely feel like this book deserves it. I will try to keep this spoiler free. This book continues the story of Owen Kiskaddon, seven years after the events of the Thief's Daughter. The story this final book tells is a lot heavier than the previous two installments and features many adult themes, most likely because Owen himself is an adult in this book as opposed to a child or a teenager. There are themes of loss, heartbreak, regret, hopelessness and betrayal, but there are also incredible elements of compassion, redemption and love. The characters in this story have grown and progressed in an organic and believable way, each one of them maturing and developing qualities that are both interesting and realistic. That's the great thing about the way Wheeler designs characters, there is no such thing as a one dimensional character in his stories and this character-designing talent is especially crucial in The King's Traitor.The plot moves along at a steady pace and the suspense and intrigue never relent. It's full of exciting twists and turns that as a seasoned fantasy reader I genuinely did not expect. Many times throughout the book I feared that the story would go down a cliche plot path only to be pleasantly surprised as I was proven wrong. As for the writing style itself it is immaculate as always. There's never an awkward sentence or misplaced word; every sentence really feels like a work of art.I feel like the perfect end to a story is one that makes you sad that its over but happy that you got to experience it and satisfied with the way the story ended. This final book left me with that bittersweet feeling in a way that few stories have. If you have read the first two books of this series, you HAVE TO read this last book.

This third book of the series really focuses on the moral dilemmas and hard life decisions faced by each of the characters. It shows that decisions really do result in consequences that affect life moving forward. I could almost feel the pain and torment endured by Duke Owen as he tried to make choices that only amounted to being the lesser of two evils in most cases. I like the way Wheeler is able to develop characters so deeply and maintain a believable persona for each of them, good or evil. Like the first two in the series, this story has intrigue, treachery, action, love, and a healthy dose of fanciful magic. There's blood and love but no graphic gore or sex. I would rate this story PG using the movie standards.

Okay. If any of you like reading fantasy/historical fiction, You should check out Jeff Wheeler. He's pretty fantastic. I just bought the last two books he's written and am heartbroken that he has nothing more for me to read yet!His first few series were fun lighthearted adventure, but the last two are increasingly complex and beautifully written with characters that face heart wrenching conflict and strife (but they always come out with a happy ending!).His novels are almost always inspired by historical medieval political machinations and his magical systems are subtle and uniquely aligned with the core beliefs of doing what's right (magic-users strength is increased with integrity, etc).He describes his writing as "clean" fantasy, i.e., not including bad language, sex, or hyper-violence. At first I thought that meant the dreaded youth fiction, but it's written for adults, just without that. He develops beautiful stories and characters that feel real with conflicts that seem impossible and are really well-done.The Kingfountain series is based on the idea of Richard III winning in the War of the Roses woven together with historical background Camelot mythos.The Covenant of Muirwood is based on the idea of Mary Queen of Scots having a happy ending and the magic system basically revolving around the Catholic church at the time. If the Catholic church actually did this stuff, I would convert in a heartbeat! But it managed to emphasize the best teachings of the church while at the same time show how easily power corrupts, and how the struggle is continual for those in power not to be corrupted.Those are my two favorites. They're so well done. Go for it, and let me know if you like them or have similar to recommend! With Locke, all I can do much of the time is read, so I'm always looking for more fun fantasy fiction! Sadly, that's almost all I read! Watching Merlin on Netflix and reading alternate Camelot medieval histories!

I discovered the author Jeff Wheeler and this series which includes The King's Traitor by accident. I love it! This book is a page-turner, as are all the books in this series. I also liked the Queen's Poisoner. I especially like that I can be assured there isn't a lot of swearing and/or sex situations. Let the story speak for itself--which Jeff Wheeler is a master at doing. Highly recommend for adults and teens. I can't wait for more books from him.

Most of the book is dedicated to explaining what each account means (e.g. acc't 2540 is listed as purchases for the props dept.). Other than that, it has a brief introduction and extensive glossary. This is less of a nighttime read and more of a dictionary. This book was in my left hand during prep on an indy feature. Great for first-time producers.This book is great for having a kinda "checklist" on your budget—did you remember spare globes (light bulbs) for the electricians? And it's great for determining what account each line-item would go under.This book will not: (1) make you a wizz at budgeting, (2) serve as a reference for price points [it's 20 years out of date], (3) be all-encompassing, but it will help keep the producer on track!

I love it!

If you're looking to produce a very low-budget, extremely independent movie this book is not for you. If you are a completely green producer, this book is helpful in the sense that it gives you the page design of all the important budget forms at a much cheaper price than purchasing Movie Magic. However, the primary example in this book is a Coppola film, "The Conversation," which had a budget much higher than one could afford just with personal investments. Thus, a lot of adjusting math figures is necessary for you to get what you need out of it. What's more, this book is in desperate need of a new edition: this was printed in 1996, and a lot has changed in terms of technology and film "norms." For example, this book says the average mileage reimbursement is 28 cents per mile, which I'm sure was true in 96, but now, nine years later, the average acceptable payment is 40 cents per mile from a studio and 32 from an individual (ie low budget indie). Cell phones are not even mentioned once in this book. It's also a hard read because it's hard to get past the sophomoric spelling mistakes and typographical errors. These are small, insignificant details that just appalled me: I can't take advice from someone who doesn't know the proper use of "your" or "you're." Overall this book is just frustrating. I'm sure he is a fantastic force in the film industry, but the execution of this book made it seem like he just doesn't care; it feels like an afterthought.

I used this book in the recent shooting of a feature film, and found it and the separately-available workbooks very helpful. The workbooks use examples from an actual film budget ("The Conversation"); the text is clear, compelling, accurate and up-to-date. Best of the "how to" film production books I have seen and used.

When the Industrial Revolution came however, everything changed. It became a fine tuned art. This book goes throughout time to describe these changes in a relatively short amount of time. This book was handed to my by the religious leader of my church after a discussion regarding my son's legal problems.In this book Zehr takes issue with the current system, which many claim is based on the Old Testament of the Bible. He views the criminal justice system as one which has been built on retributive justice. This system is built on retribution, the "eye for an eye" viewpoint. Zehr raises several substantial questions:Is the retribution system working as a deterrent to crime?Is the retribution system truly in line with the ideas of the Bible -- both Old and New Testaments?Does the retribution system really help the victim?Does "punishment" really rehabilitate the offender?Moving forward Zehr then talks about a restorative system of justice. This system of justice is more akin to our civil courts than our criminal courts. Rather than being a crime against the state, the action of the offender is regarded as a crime against a person. Both victim and offender see each other. If done well, both victim and offender come to know each other as people, not just faceless stereotypes. This step alone can make a huge difference. For the victim, it's a chance to express his or her sense of violation. For the offender, it's a chance to understand that he or she hurt a person, not just the owner of a house that he or she ripped off.Zehr realizes that he is wrestling with a utopian ideal. Restorative justice is far easier for us to accord to those who have done crimes such as burglary (unless you have been a victim of one and understand how violating the event can be). But what about the more brutal crimes of rape, child molestation or murder? Zehr believes the system needs substantial revamping in these ways as well, but acknowledges it is a much more difficult solution.Food for thought.
