I gave this 2 stars as it was kind of a build up with a big let down as it ended so abrubtly. Having read many other books on Saudi Arabia and Saudi Princesses I expected more about thier life, this was mostly about the author and her life.The author alludes to the fact that she and the princess will come to a bad end, early in the book and though out the book. But you find you will need to order the sequel to find out how the Princess and the author part ways. I couldnt wait to get back to it this morning to find out how it ends but it leaves you hanging. The title should say "Part one"
I really liked this book, but I cannot figure out why so many Kindle books appear to be unedited. This writer does a fine job of story telling, but it is so annoying to read were, instead of where, or see mute instead of moot. Other than that it's an interesting book and I enjoyed it.
I loved the book. Reasons ??-- my company in 79(BHP Aust.) sold iron ore fines to the Saudi Cement Coy. In the contract BHP was to provide someone to advise the Cement Coy. how to prevent loss from wind erosion So they send me to supervise the discharge of ship in Dammam and go to Hufhuf (during Ramadan) to tell "them" how. Me--I spent my life on the water(salt) and ships---CAMELS NO . All that Teresa said brought back memories .Deka
I lived in Jeddah ( on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, on the Red Sea) and this book is dead on, I was there on 9/2001, it was such horror. Very difficult place to live.
In some ways the story accurately portrays life for an expat in Saudi Arabia in the 70s and 80s. Having lived there doing this period it is doubtful that some of the antics that the "princess" engaged in would ever come to light.
I always enjoy reading of well written book on this topic and this one belong among those good ones. Different author, different experiences, another interesting stories.
This was a remarkable book describing life in a country with which we are unfamiliar. I would highly recommend it to any one interested in the culture of the Saudis. We must not forget these people have been our friends for a long time.
She drags on and on about how she is friends with a princess and has a falling out with her. To read about the falling out you must buy the next book. It's not interesting enough to purchase her other book
