I really enjoy this book I really do, it has held my interest from the beginning of reading this. It is about the Amish country & people, in all what they do in real life & how they live. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat. We travel to Amish country quite often & now I can relate things in this book, also seeing the Amish in the fields. This is a very fascinating book to read.
This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It is a book of self discovery of a young boy. It is a book of twists and turns. It leaves you laughing and crying and a sense of understanding of horses and young boys.
Everything in this book reminded me of home. I grew up in Kalona, my mother was a Gingerich, our Gingerich homestead was south of Yoder Feeds and my grandpa could have been the one in this book.I only gave it four stars because it lagged in a few places. If I was judging on taking a walk down memory lane, I would definitely give it a 5-star rating!
I loved this book. It was informative about the Amish way of life and how a young boy learned that a simple, hard working life can be a great life. I can't wait for the next book to come out. It was really worth reading and keeps you interested throughout. Great job Tom.
Great read. Emotional read. What drew me to this book was the cover . those beautiful black horses , just pulled me in. While reading, you feel like you are there with Lenny. Can't wait to get into book 2.
A Wonderful and easy read by a up and coming author, Thomas Nye. Difficult to imagine that this is his first book. I admire the detail with which he so eloquently describes his favorite subjects; Horses and the Amish. Thomas still manages to pull at the heartstrings by incorporating a touching love story. I'm anxious for the 2nd in this series.
great story - wanted to read this fellow Iowan's book - glad I did
I'm saving the book to read over the winter months.
