Excellent book - and not just about safety. This has so many applications - it's really about effective management of just about any endeavor - and can be used as a wise guidebook for anyone who has responsibility over someone else (even themselves!). Darn wise psychology about how to deal effectively with other human beings.The author has many anecdotes and stories to tell about human behavior - often seemingly clueless behavior. He teaches us to look beyond the easy name calling. The Postscript has a story from the author that brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. So much wisdom and so much humanity!

I loved learning from this book "Dysfunctional Practices." I worked in shipyards for 20+ years as a welder, lead, foreman, then manager, and then I left it all 2 years ago to become a safety professional. This book is the most "real life" I've read! There are truths within this book that business owners/operators/managers need to face, namely that we stop blaming the workers for poor safety decisions, and take a hard look at the environment that we've created that shape those decisions. It's us, not them.
